I read this first on GB News - it was a powerful read then and no less second time around. I have witnessed other communities in some Northern cities be effectively replaced - flight to familiarity is a poignant and fitting term for people who, for generations, have worked in these areas and fought for their country. Where can this country go from here? Certainly globalisation, open borders and woke/ virtue signalling have corrupted our country’s values, traditions and heritage. Very sad.
Perfectly articulated, Paul. In my northern city, I remember visiting recently a local school and found myself among a group of mothers waiting to collect their kids. Every woman wore a niqab concealing her face. Conversation was impossible, as was recognition of who was who, and silence prevailed...
Such a massive change from my own experience, where friendships were forged, stories swopped and the general noise and hubbub of the school gates was a feature of the ' familiar' you identify.

It's debatable whether there's still time to stop and reverse it; my colours are nailed to the Reform mast, because I believe that is realistically the only remaining chance.
Please could I request a piece on WHY you believe they have done this to us?
Yet another great post Paul. I’m sure your description of what has happened to your home town is being replicated across the nation. You are right in saying change is inevitable, but it is how change happens that matters. That is what the people in power are not willing to hear.

Sad poignant true,one of the reasons I stopped supporting the Labour Party a long time ago. But the question is and I suppose there are many, what does this say about the country and where are ‘we’ heading? My feelings and thoughts are not optimistic on this.I think one of the authors of his report John Cruddock? Was sometime ago warning about the direction in which things were going. It is good important to have your voice on this ,thank you.
As a Scot who was living in Hackney back in the early 90's I worked in Dagenham on a contract painting the windows of a massive council housing scheme. A lot of the locals shared that they used to be East London folk who moved out of their home areas as the demograph changed. Change isnt always for the best.
Unfriendly? I pay monthly , if I was Unfriendly I would pay annually and save a few quid !!! 😉
If Dagenham is to become a friendly town again then it must seeek its independence from Barking , Barking has been a milestone round the neck and dragging Dagenham down for decades. I was told not to go on the Gazza estate , not only at night but all times and that was last century.
I know some people are nostalgic about last century, before mass immigration and think that the UK was some sort of a utopia last century, but I genuinely remind people that state institutions failed many , not only NHs ( infected blood etc ) , but we also found out that local authorities were not looking after the children in the care homes , we know about abuse on boarding schools, churches etc , thr bbc failure when it protected nonces .
But i suppose it all depends on the circles you grew up in .
Dagenham maybe a shithole, buts it my shithole and its home .

On a related note, the late great Rod Liddle when editor of the Today programme sent a reporter to Dagenham to ask residents their views on unfettered immigration.
The BNP were activel at the time.
The reporter conducted ten interviews, nine hostile to immigration and one not so.. guess which interview was aired?
The establishment has been covering up this almighty tragedy for years.
My grand children will be growing up in Yugoslavia.
The EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, headed up now by a Labour person, has issued a statement saying that ‘we’ need to do more for ‘illegal immigrants’. She didn’t say they were breaking the law of this country or talk about sending them back ? This is I suggest a part a large part of the state of Dagenham, and many other places in the UK. Who is running the country and for whom? It is I believe a part of a replacement and displacement project.
Thank you for continuing to point out these utterly depressing states of affairs. It makes me feel so miserable that the arrogant elites in power thought it was ok to, what amounts to, lifting entire villages from far flung places and dropping them into our middle class neighbourhoods. It's cut and paste. Many such people have no desire whatsoever to embrace our culture and assimilate, to which I say, f*** the hell off out of my country if you're not willing to participate. Us Brits have a terrible name abroad when we retire to Spain and the like, and get drunk and demand English food and refuse to speak the language (you know, Benidorm style), yet the reverse is exactly the same and those same people apologising for our behaviour abroad roll over and praise new comers to the Uk who cling on to their often backwards cultures. The hypocrisy is unbearable.

Dagenham has always been a pretty rough area in some ways but it certainly had a community spirit.
The estate was mainly made up of cockneys relocated after the war and of course Irish settlers who came over looking for employment.
The fact there were differences in culture around religion and customs meant that sometimes these differences were settled on the cobbles.
However once hostilities had ceased, a handshake and a pint of Guinness or a light and bitter usually marked the end of it.
Unfortunately now you’re more likely to be stabbed, shot or burnt out of your house.
