I suggest there is a pathological and depressing reluctance to be 'blunt' amongst the Establishment, amongst the Great & the Good, and generally among the Left.
I heartily applaud your position and your bluntness - please come back to GB News; you were one of the few Left Wingers who deployed critical thinking, logic and accuracy, you're greatly missed.
The road to hell is often paved with good intentions.
I know it wont happen in my lifetime but one day I would like people to be selected / appointed/ employed based on "merit " ( sorry for writing such a dirty word on your substack) .
I am surprised that no one has ever tried it .
Have a lovely week Paul and other readers 😃
Ps I notice football season has resumed....... may I wish Wolves all the best in their efforts to return to league 1 😉
Very good piece which I do agree with. There is a balance to be struck though.
After a few days, the opportunity was missed in some quarters to broaden the critique from just Arday alone and to take on the woke establishment more broadly. I'm sure if the 'Critical Whiteness Studies' tree was shaken, quite a few dodgy characters might fall from it! And quite a few universities could be questioned about recruitment decisions in this and allied woke fields. He is probably just the tip of the iceberg, albeit an extreme case. Most doctrines with quite a bit of falsehood at their core, rely heavily on censorship and intimidation to silence opposition, and wokeism/DEI is no exception.
It takes rather more courage to attack such a powerful and aggressive establishment movement, than it does to pick on one solitary man or woman, once they are exposed and vulnerable. All too quickly, a poster boy for the woke movement can become a tokenistic whipping boy for those who oppose it. And I think that did happen to an extent here.
A great piece. You have expressed brilliantly something I felt but have struggled to explain to friends who are screaming that Jason Arday was subjected to a racist witch hunt! Thank you!
Hi Paul, well argued (as I have very much come to expect).
Your comment that DEI, especially when applied so zealously, creates its own victims who are often individuals its adherents claim to be assisting, reminds me of John McWhorter's book 'Woke Racism' which explores how black Americans have been betrayed by woke ideology. The ideology, and its associated DEI industry, are actually racist against whites and blacks.
One of your best commentaries, Paul.
Cracking and forensic article, Paul, thank you.

Your last sentence resounds, Paul. Yes.

Very sad Marra.
Obviously the link between this chap and WB resonates.
The fact is if due diligence was carried out in the first place none of these tragic events would have occurred.

Such a well written articulate piece. Nothing like else to add.
