What is wrong with these race obsessives. I couldn't give two hoots who built Stonehenge but I give many hoots about the truth. Let's say black Africans HAD built it. Then what? So what? Would this mean that black owiple are superior? Would it warrant some reparations claim or another? What are they trying to prove? The implication is that black people have achieved nothing in the real world so we need to push some weird narrative that proves they are great. It's pathetic and insulting to all.
Words! I have seen you on GBNews. You are always, logical and you don't let emotion get in the way of clear thinking and common sense. If only the Left followed your lead the world would be a better place! I can't see anyone shouting you down. Keep up the good work.
Yes, it is a sad and vexing problem trying to find any useful employment for aging ex-MPs. "Useful employment" does not include claiming your daily tax free allowance of £300 just for signing in at the House of Lords. I do not think that you can claim when you are dead, though I am sure that a Weekend at Bernie's sequel where all the senile and deceased members of both Lords and Commons try to claim as much as they can in 48 hours would at least give us some laughs for our money.
Any chance that they might continue public service in a low key but useful role by serving in charities, churches, clubs, etc?
The new Sentencing Guidelines were largely based upon the 2017 review by David Lammy which claimed "widespread" racial discrimination in the criminal justice system, and put forward changes to improve outcomes for "black, Asian and minority ethnic" offenders.
The problem is that Lammy's review was fatally flawed (never!) in that it simply compared the length of custodial sentences given to Whites vs those given to minorities without actually drilling down into each type of offence and then comparing the sentencing of those offences. If he had done so, he would have found that Whites are often the ones with the harsher sentences. The reason that he was able to conclude that minorities were given harsher sentences was simply that those offences that attract harsher sentences were more likely to be carried out by minorities. These more serious offences were more likely to be tried in a Crown Court rather than a Magistrates Court and therefore have a greater chance of attracting a custodial sentence in the first place. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/07/data-exposes-major-flaws-two-tier-justice-rules-sentencing/
If he was consistent, rather than campaigning for lesser sentences for the same offences for minorities, he should have been campaigning for those offences that minorities are generally jailed for should attract lesser sentences. Now that would be much more difficult because he'd have to change the law in many cases and the public, who generally believe that jail sentences are too short anyway, wouldn't like what he was campaigning for.
When I first heard about the 2 Tier Sentencing, I immediately assumed that this was a Starmer-led initiative. How wrong was I? It actually seems that the current Justice Secretary has been pretty good at speaking out against it, even if she was asleep at the wheel in the first place.
It was actually first mooted under the Tories and the Tory Junior Minister for Sentencing (we have a minister for something ministers have no control over!) was a Gareth Bacon MP (me neither) who's the current Shadow Transport Secretary. I'd then assumed that this chinless wonder was a typical One Nation Tory who would be better suited to the LibDems or maybe Labour, but how wrong was I, yet again. He's actually firmly on the Right of the Tories. Check out his voting record here https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/25750/gareth_bacon/orpington/votes#reform
Bacon "welcomed” a draft of the controversial measures in February 2024 in a private letter to the council, which has now been made public after a request by The Telegraph under freedom of information laws. In the letter, he said the Ministry of Justice particularly welcomed the “fuller guidance” around judges’ and magistrates’ use of pre-sentence reports, which have been at the centre of the row over two-tier justice.
Bacon was appointed Sentencing Minister in November 23 and his predecessor for 13 months was another Tory Right Winger, Edward Argar. During their tenure, the most liberal current lay members of the Sentencing Council were appointed including many open supporters and "allies" (their words) of BLM and Insulate Britain. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/07/two-tier-justice-architects-praised-blm-insulate-britain/
One of the problems with unelected quangos is that they're stuffed to the gills with liberal Wokes however these Wokes are usually appointed by ministers and in the Tories' 14 years in power, they've been responsible for stuffing these quangos with people who have the absolute opposite points of view than they do.
Is this simple incompetence or is it an illustration of the two cheeks of the same bottom theory ?
Wow Paul - great bits and bobs from Stonehenge to a two tier justice system to the erstwhile former MP suffering limelight withdrawals to finally the NHS and your wry question "what could possibly go wrong". What I enjoy about your work is the strong vein of commonsense and logic that prevails. Stonehenge - reminds me of the joke that went around a few years back of two Labrador dogs (one golden, and you guessed it one black : the black Labrador wore a sign round its neck with BLM on it, the other had a speech bubble "don't you start!"). The former PM you wrote about rang many bells with me - here in Australia we have so many ex pollies like him, for some reason especially ex PMs who really miss the limelight: we've got one who must be well into his eighties in particular. Sad.
Anyhow even though I'm not a voter of the same persuasion as you I find we have a lot in common as regards the ailments of our respective countries and appreciate your efforts written and spoken to wake people up. Cheers.

I am tired of these absurdities Paul. Pushing received truth is one thing, creating blatant lies in its place is entirely another :(
