Left on the economy (as long as there’s no waste and we help those in genuine need) and right on culture - otherwise known as PATRIOTS. The liberal elite, the state and the Church have dismissed us for too long. Told us we have no identity, that we are invisible, that we are of no consequence. But we are British and can only be pushed so far. The line has been crossed and we are out of the shadows.
I totally concur Paul. Thank you for the party political broadcast on behalf of the Reform Party. I do believe we are also definitely for reindustrialisation and levelling up !
So what are you going to do about the economy. Most of these voters want left leaning reforms, but you’re baiting them with their cultural complaints. I agree with some of these complaints, but if you’re going to stick with free market bar nothing you will ultimately screw them just like everybody else has
Labour will never change. We need a break away party led by blue Labour. But, we do have Reform. Whilst Farage is an ex-Tory, I do not believe Reform is the Thatcherite laissez-faire party you seem to think it is. Even if they were, they are still the ONLY party who can bring about change. Reform are surely better than Labour. We have got to sort out our open borders. Without borders we have nothing. So whilst Reform might not be perfect for some leaning left economically it is surely more important to claim back our nation state first because without that we will never fix the economy.
Paul you seem surprised that Reform is touching all sides of the spectrum. However they are the only party in a position to do anything about the mess this country is in. You may not like all their policies but there are no other real alternatives. I’m not sure I would call them Thatcherite either as they appeal to many people who see their country going down the you know what. Matt Goodwin’s new book Suicide of a Nation sums it up well. People not being listened to repeatedly after each GE and importing a myriad of external cultures and languages alien to the resident population many who refuse to integrate. We are expected to integrate with them. It will be interesting to see where we end up.
As usual you have you have written a thoughtful article the only thing I would correct you on is the " poorest voters have abandoned Labour" I would say it's the other way round Labour have abandoned not just the poorest voters but anyone that doesn't have the same woke out look as them
When at university I studied the English civil war period. The mood out there in the country reminds me of that earlier era with its..Diggers,Ranters and Fifth Monarchists.
This is certainly not a boring time for us political nerds .
It's been my impression for quite some time that the left, generally speaking, are selfish. It's more about personal gain than care for others. They do a very good job of virtue signalling to the contrary however.
Paul, the last thing we need is an "interventionist" government of any colour. Governments and Civil Servants have shown over decades (remember Wilson's "white heat of technology"?) to be utterly abysmal at anything that tries to manipulate industry or markets in any way shape or form.
We only have to look at the effects of Government intervention in the energy market over the last few years to see what a complete pigs ear they have made of it. It isn't of course helped by the messianic insanity of Ed the Shred at present, but the Conservatives weren't any better.
So,what you're saying is that the supporters of Reform should actually be supporting the SDP. Unfortunately, that would mean stopping to think about what the parties are actually offering, which is too much like hard work for most. It's the main reason that the country is beyond repair.
Really good article Paul. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see the poll broken down between males and females? My guess is it’s the bleeding heart females who are still finding themselves able to support Labour. They see boats arriving from France with poor disadvantaged males looking to support their families and that we owe them a living. The rest of us see freeloaders and trouble. We are right.

Good point, Dave.

I have a lot of time for the modern-day SDP.
Yeah, I know. You told me a few weeks ago 😄
