Robert Kenyons have been sneered at and ignored for decades. The elites had no idea or didn’t care how many Robert Kenyons there have been lying dormant, until the time was right. They are about to find out, we are all Robert Kenyon now! In your face, Starmer!
Who cares about a few inappropriate comments about Carol Vorderman - like she’s above what I would consider totally out of order comments on Nigel Farage? You’re dead right Paul, the events like Southport, Manchester Airport thugs being let off and poor Henry Nowak have made the scales fall off the eyes of former Labour voters. Unlike politicians, they are able to distinguish good from bad and they know that hurty words are just that. Words are not crimes.
Well written. The ‘progressive elites’ are on left of politics and have destroyed our country. And badly damaged the party where you sit. I notice Burnham is rowing back on past opinions and started to say the ‘right thing’ to get elected. He seems just as fake as Starmer. I notice also the Morrisey glasses and the keenness to get photo’d in his Everton kit. ‘Look at me … look how ‘northern’ I am’. Right. He won’t be Labour’s saviour. The public care about immigration, Burnham’s said nothing on it. People like yourself will be. Had Labour listened to you they would not have been in this mess. I don’t think they will until it is too late.
Absolutely spot on Paul, Kenyon breaks the mould that the ‘Offendotrons’ can’t abide. Your line, “a cohort of self-appointed liberal left political and cultural gate-keepers” sums up what country is up against perfectly.
I would suggest that these "new puritans" are much more aligned with The Inquisition. I thought that when I read Andrew Doyle's excellent book "The New Puritans". At least the Puritans believed in grace and forgiveness.
This is much more aligned with Inquisitional jurisprudence and, if I may suggest, Islamic jurisprudence where apostasy is treated as worthy of death.
What a disgrace these muckraking social media trolls are.
I couldn’t believe that a convicted terrorist was allowed to stand as a prospective councillor on Birmingham City council, and a bat wielding solicitor being allowed so much influence in Birmingham.
Gorton and Denton was one of the most nasty, and divisive campaigns I’ve ever witnessed, mainly down to the Green Party.
Tower Hamlets council leader was only given a ban from politics for election fraud, why was he not banned for life?
All the wrongs that we have allowed, and continue to do so, is really quite alarming.
All of that is being ignored, because Robert Kenyon is now the object of their hateful desires.
Personally I couldn't care less what some Tory (and yes, Reformists are all Tories just with a different shade of blue to the Conservatives) might or might not have posted back in the past.
But I do care that the Reformists keep getting a free pass on policy, despite committing to reverse all of the employment rights legislation protecting workers and to cutting taxes for the rich and introducing an insurance-based health service.
None of this ever seems to get mentioned.
I sincerely hope Andy Burnham wins Makerfield and that the ideas he has for a social-democratic economic programme will be takne up by the Government.
Light-blue Tory Mr Kenyon must be worried about how the Makerfield vote will split between him and the other two Tory candidates - the dark-blue Rebecca Shepherd and the mid-blue Michael Winstanley.
Reformists, Restorists and Conservatives - all part of the same Tory political family.
During an interview with a local newspaper it was disappointing to see that Kenyon admitted that he did not know about Reform policy and “ would have to have a look into it” or a similar answer. Not really floating my boat :-)
"If Robert Kenyon had stood for a mainstream party a decade ago, his past comments, once uncovered, would have sounded the death knell for his candidature and reputation. And there would likely have been little public protest." < have you not seen Wes Streetings tweets from over a decade ago threatening violence against people before he was elected?
I was more interested in the fact he hadn't voted for brexit yet ran for a party led by Nigel Farage....
Also to see the liberal left get there knickers in a twist over women drivers remarks while defending men in frocks in women's spaces is the definition of irony .....
Brilliant article Paul. You are a voice of reason and common sense for those in the left and right. Thank you!
Thanks, Ann Marie.

The archeology won't work especially in a week that has exposed high levels of corruption at the heart of a political party in Scotland.

Good luck to the lad 👏👏👏👏👏

Come on Andy - win!
Excellent piece, Paul.

Hi Paul 👋
Absolutely fantastic article 👏 👍
