Goodness - I would fight to the front of the queue if there was “an audience with Paul Embry”. My politics are not the same as yours but I am open to other views, and mine often tend to align closely to yours!! All I can say is their loss! Clearly they do not realise you are quite capable of seeing and speaking about opposing views.
I think the lack of courage demonstrated by not even telling you that you were no longer invited, is very typical and telling. The reason will just be that you have offended some woke sensibility but to articulate that would sound as ridiculous as it is (and proves the lack of commitment to the proper telos of a university ) so just ignoring you and inviting someone else is easier. 😡
An absolute and very clear invitation from Oxforrd for you to speak.
And a very clear case of weasel words and deeds from them now.
I'm sorry you weren't able to speak, you would've brought very thought-provoking arguments, as you always do. But therein, I think, lay the problem. Stretching the minds of their captured liberal students would be a step too far.
Oh dear. Seems they need to get a template letter for "We're sorry to disinvite. We're actually not at all keen on free speech, but we'd at least like to be courteous about our cowardice".
Crap manners from the kind of people who revel in calling everyone else 'common'.
You suggest it could be because you have spoken out about the trans issue but I tend to think it’s probably because of your recent writing on the failure of multiculturalism and the negative impact of current massive level of immigration. Plus the rudeness to not explain is unforgivable.
Mate, it's probably because you didn't go to Oxford University!
Anyway a big fat 'f' to them and who cares what they debate at their stuck-up, upper-class university anyway?
Why not hold a public debate event on the same subject and invite anyone along. It'll be loads better and you'll get actual working-class people coming along to hear you - and the other side of the argument as well.
I just laugh at the Oxford Union now. Last bastion of free speech. I mean you could not make it up.
Ther letter says "We would like to invite you to speak". Then against woke extremists do change the meaning of words and often make them mean the polar opposite (E.g. man=woman) l. So perhaps her statement in the new woke order means something like "you're far-right and I don't want you anywhere near our union".
Meanwhile I have emailed wokey Anita to politely ask her why it is she thinks a Tory peer is better qualified to take your place.
It's simple Paul, your a despised like the working class because you challenge the progressive narrative.
You are probably deemed "far right " (with reference to your tweet about union yesterday) , as I tweeted "anyone to the right of the far (progressive) left is far right .
On your wider point about the bastion of debate and free speech , I remember when "safe spaces " were first introduced to make sure the middle class darlings were not offended, that was the start of capitulation to challenging debate and exploring all philosophy and ideology.
Hope you get jist of this .
Unfortunately the ruling political elite and class (and there mouthpieces , bbc , sky etc ) have utter contempt for anyone who doesn't share there views .
(I include all political parties in this criticism) .
They are that far up each others backsides it’s hard to see where one begins and the other ends! These people are not thinkers or debaters they are part of ‘the Borg’ they have become environmentally sub normal in their tiny elite bubble; I can’t wait for it to burst 🫣
There’s a lot of whingeing about Trump’s treatment of Harvard Paul. Oxford University should be taking note. They will be treated similarly in due course, and deservedly so.

I would take it as a compliment to your work!!

It's quite simple Paul, you've been cancelled because you're not indoctrinated and you're far too reasonable and eloquent.

What a joke, Leftism is a cancer.

Come on Paul, you know it's because you're a "literal fascist". Be proud! Hold your head up high! You're now in the same class as Donald Trump! 🤣
Ridiculous - not the same University I attended

Their loss !
Perhaps suggest you do your own one at this years Battle of ideas festival?
