Having sat through many a product meeting across a wide range of brands over the last 25 years I can tell you nothing happens without there being a bias hidden somewhere on the product.
Head of Design in any company is a god like position allowing you the power to create a product in your own image. I know this because my own son will say to me, "did you design those boots dad?" as a lady passes me in the street sporting red a pair, and I say, "yes son those are all my invention". Part true - part ego-drivel-nonsense.
